    Fuck Minimalism: How a Movement Began to End by Everett Bogue →

    I’m not really sure what to think of this post/website. Somehow it almost seems as if Everett has started the minimalist movement, while clearly minimalism has been around for years, if not decades. See this article for instance. Only back in the days this lifestyle might not have been labeled as minimalism and there wasn’t something called the ‘100 thing challenge’.

    Also I think most people are aware that minimalism is just the starting point and not the end goal. You don’t have to take the whole minimalist concept down because of this.

    The part I agree on is that you don’t need to read a ton of e-books about minimalism to get you going. One great blog post or book should probably be enough to open your eyes and create a mind shift from acquiring stuff to doing what matters. That doesn’t mean that all the blogs about minimalism are obsolete, I still enjoy reading them. They inspire me to keep changing and I’m sure many people feel this way.

    When Everett started to change his lifestyle, he himself jumped on the minimalist wagon that was already created by some bloggers like Leo Babauta, Tammy Strobel and Chris Baskind so it seems to me that;
    A. other people who haven’t heard about minimalism should have this opportunity as well and;
    B. it’s not fair to say that people ‘replicate the movement that a handful of extraordinary people started’.

    Mike from the art of minimalism wrote a nice reaction as well.

    p.s. I’ve purchased the Art of being Minimalist a while ago and am allowed to share it with 5 people. So feel free to contact me if you’d like a copy.
