    We live in a house of about 1,200 square feet. In the Netherlands this is pretty close to average. Before we purchased our house it had been on the market for a year. A lot of people thought the house was too small for their needs, especially with two kids. Out house has got one master bedroom and two tinier bedrooms. This attitude towards space seems a bit weird when you imagine that back in the days kids were used to sharing one room. Heck, my father even shared one bathtub -and the same water- with his 7 siblings once a week. That seems not-done these days.

    We would like to move to a smaller house eventually, as long as it’s surrounded by green space. But for now we are doing fine, especially because the housing market isn’t very stable at the moment.
